OF LEYTE FOUNDATION

The Colegio de Sta. Lourdes of Leyte Foundation, Inc. announces the offering of scholarships for the children of teachers who have a desire to further their education in the tertiary level. The Foundation is currently offering two (2) four-year Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-approved courses: Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.

The scholarship offering aims to show appreciation and issue for the future of the children of teachers, who would like to study in the tertiary level.

With this scholarship, the scholars will avail of the 100% free tuition and free use of the dormitories for the first semester of their first year. The scholars will have the obligation to retain and renew their scholarship status by maintaining a general weighted average prescribed by the scholarship program administrators. They will also be assessed a minimal commitment fee each semester. This and other guidelines are strictly enforced in order to ensure the proper effort and attitude on the part of the students. With these policies set up, the students are less likely to take the scholarship for granted.

Additional Subsidy given to Top Executing Public Art High School

Seventeen of the country’s art schools offering the special program in the arts (SPA) will each obtain P500,000 in additional subsidy to boost the capacity of these schools in delivering the actual specialized program.

Education Secretary Armin Luistro said this is part of the government’s pushed to democratize access to other instructional tracks that nurture the creative skills of learners.” This is consistent with our want to enhance the basic education curriculum so that students who have the particular inclination towards the arts will have the actual venue to further develop their self-expression,” Luistro added.

The 17 growth schools were developed from the original 17 public higher schools offering SPA that was piloted in 2000. From the 17 pilot schools, the number extended to some 75 schools across the country which caters to students that favor the arts. The Seventeen expansion schools were picked from the 75 public higher schools after displaying capability to nurture more students in six art disciplines specifically music, visual arts, movie theater arts, creative writing, mass media arts and dance.

Training for PE Teachers

The National Association of Physical Educators (NAPE) will perform the Training of Physical Educators on December 9-11, 2011 at the Borongan Comprehensive National High School (BCNHS) Covered Court, Borongan, Eastern Samar. The objective of this training is to share experiences, details and knowledge to further achieve development in the intellectual capital among physical educators involved in the campaign and development of the training.

The individuals to this activity are professors, school heads, supervisors/heads of Physical Education, Musika, Sining at Edukasyong Pagpapahalaga (MSEP)/ Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH) teachers, dance directors and choreographers, sports directors and enthusiasts from both public and private schools.

National Paralegal Training for Teachers Leaders

The Teachers Dignity Coalition in coordination with the office of the DepEd Undersecretary for legal affairs and sentro ng alternaibong lingap panligal - Sanligan will hold the National Paralegal Training for Teacher-Leaders with the them Kaalamang Leagal, Aking Tungkulin at Karapatan, on November 20-21 at Bayview Park Hotel, Roxas Blvd Manila

The activity aims to equip the teacher leaders with the legal knowledge and skills to make them more responsible leader and educations provide them with information on pertinent issues of the educational sector and solicit more proposals for a better and improved education system.

Social Science Student and Teacher Seminar

10TH BAKAS NATIONAL SEMINAR-WORKSHOP IN HISTORIOGRAPHY

The Bagong Kasaysayan (BAKAS), Inc. will conduct the 10th BAKAS National Workshop in Historiography and the Social Sciences with the theme “Kasaysayan ng Kapilipinuhan: Isang Bagong Balangkas” on April 18-21, 2012 at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Makati City.

Mathematics Related Training for Teachers and Student - UP Los Banos

MATH IN ACTION (MiA) 2012

The Society of Applied Mathematics of the University of the Philippines (SAM-UP) Los Banos will conduct the Math in Action (MiA) 2012 on January 14-15, 2012 at the Vargas Ground, Makiling National Scout Reservation (Jamboree), Los Banos, Laguna.

The undertaking aims to boost the students’ understanding and admiration of Mathematics and its application to the society.

The participants are the high school students and their teachers from the R-IV-CALABARZON and National Capital Region (NCR) areas.

Every student-participant shall be billed a application fee of Seven Hundred Pesos (PhP700.00) and for the teacher-participant is Five Hundred Pesos (PhP500.00) to pay for the expenses of meals, camping fee and materials.
