2011 Palarong Pambansa








The 2011 Palarong Pambansa shall be held on May 8-14, 2011 in Dapitan City. This years palaro will be hosted by the DepEd Regional Office 9 and deped Division Office of Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.

The objective of the Palarong Pambansa 2011 are to:

a. promote Physical Educations and sports as an integral part of the basic education curriculum and as an affirmation to the schools commitment to the full development of the great potentials of the youth to become responsible and globally competitive citizens of the society.

b. Instill and imbibe among pupils and students the spirit of discipline, teamwork, challenge, excellence, fair play, solidarity, sportsmanship and other values inherent in sports.

c. widen the base for talent identification, selection, recruitment, training and exposre of elementary pupils and secondary students.

d. provide database for a value and universal basis to further improe the school sprots development program and

d. server as a feeder to the National Sports Association for further training of athletes for international competitions.

Approved technical guidelines are enclosed for information, guidance and compliance of all concerned. Additional events for this years Palaro are arnis for Elementary and Basketball for girls.

2011 World War 2 (WWII) True Stories Contest

The Philippine Veterans Bank and the Philippines Daily Inquirer will conduct the 2011 WW2 True Stories Contest on Feb 7, 2011.

The competition aims to recover stories about the personal experiences of the men and women who served during the 2nd WW as well as other individuals who lived through the same conflict, through their own recounting. This contest is intended to show that the students have interviewed researched, read about and understood the subject and formed their own narratives.

The contest is open to all Filipino students 13 to 18 years of age from both public and private high schools nationwide. The background and mechanics of the contest, interview and writing guidelines for students and the release form for the students and inverviewees are contained in Enclosure Nos 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

Entries may be submitted to any Philippine Veterans Bank branch nationwide beginning Feb 7, 2011. The deadline of submission of entries is on March 15, 2011, 4:00pm. Entries received after this date will not be included in the judging.

Best tips on writing a Book

Writing a book may be a fun hobby for people who are intellectually equipped. For some, they write about tutorial books or the like however others would favor to put in writing about their feelings and experiences in life.

There are people who write for a purpose of telling a story and sharing what they understand. We should keep in mind that there are many alternative books on the market that have existed through time. Books are a medium of data that even the traditional people enjoy.
What topics you want to share?

Winners of the 2010 Gigantic Colgate Sachet Decoration Making Contest

The Department of Education through the Health and Nutrition Center and Colgate Palmolive Philippines Inc announces the winners of the 2010 Gigantic Colgate Christmas Decoration Making Contest.

For the grand winners and runners up, the plaques of recognition, certificates, and the prizes will be awarded to the following winning schools:


Grand winner - Norala Central Elementary School - South Cotabato, Region XII
Prices: LCD projector, DVD player and laptop computer. Portable dental chair, first aid kit, dental pliers, forceps and tooth model.

1st Runner up - Labas Elementary School, Sta Rosa Region IVA - LCD projector and screen, DVD and laptop.

2nd Runner up - Iriga Central School, Iriga City Region V
3rd Runner up - San Batrolome Elementary School, Quezon City.

All the runner up received the same prizes.

DepeD Asked Parent to Convince their Children to Enroll

The Department of Education asks its students to use the holiday break in conviction their parents to enroll their younger siblings who are of school are during the early enrollment set on Jan as part of its intensified effort to achieve the 2015 Millennium Development Goal targets.

The Christmas break will an opportune time for student to inform their parts of the pre - registration undertaking of the department to have children of school age enrolled before the May to June enrollment rush.

One of the greatest challenges DepED faces is convincing parents to bring their children to schools, to keep them there and finish the basic education.

DepEd effort of providing quality pre school education involves adoption of a standard curriculum, training and hiring program for pre-school day cares teachers’ development, nutrition and health program for students, construction of classrooms and distribution of leaning supplements to students.

To encourage parents to bring their children to school the government to continues to implement the no collection and no mandatory uniform policy in public schools.

Manila Business College Scholarship Program for Teacher's Children

The Manila Business College, Sta Cruz Manila in cooperation with the Department of Education is offering a BS Degree program for deserving sons and daughters of permanent DepED employees.

The MBC offers a BS Degree in Business Administration major in marketing, management, and economics, HRD and Banking and Finance.

Under MOA signed between MBC and Deped, the Deped shall gather pre-screen and endorse 100 nominees for scholarships. There are 2 types of MBC unlimited scholars: scores and corresponding scholarships. The applicants with 85% to 95% and above generation average can avail of any of the ff grants:

a. 95% and above general average, Dr Thomas Chua Scholarship Grant with 100% Free Tuition Free worth Php150,000 and 100% free miscellaneous fee worth P75K.

b. 85% to 94% general averages, the MBC scholarship grant for collge scholarship with 100% Free Tuition Fee worth P150K.


Applicants are required to submit the ff:

1. Form 138/138
2. Birth Certificate - NSO issued
3. Certificate of Good Moral Character
4. 2x2 and 1x1 pictures
5. Accomplished application form

Applicants should submit the requirements to Ms. Nerissa Losaria, Chief, Staff Development Division, Human Resource Development Service, Scholarship Committee Secretariat on or before Jan 15, 2011.
