DepEd, Smart Search for Best Video Weblog


The search for the perfect teacher student tandem that will use local community mapping and ICT to convey to the unique report of their neighborhood via a video weblog is now on.

The contest is under the “Doon Po Sa Amin” project of the Smart Schools Program where teacher student teams carry out basic community mapping exercises to create video information sites that feature a community’s lifestyle and character.

The Secretary said the contest promotes ICT incorporation in basic education by means of curriculum structured topic areas while encouraging teachers and students to use community content in curriculum uses.

“This is a extremely exciting contest as it delivers out the best in teachers and students in producing a video website that details on the many aspects of neighborhood life. The topic categories consist of surroundings and disaster preparedness, arts and lifestyle, history and culture, as well as travel and cuisine.

The contest is available to all bonafide teachers and students from both public and private secondary schools nationwide.

The grand winner will receive P30,000 whilst category champions will get P10,000 each. There will also be a special award of P5,000 each for most effective video weblog design and style and layout, best in team collaboration, best in ICT incorporation and best in community participation.

Philippines Stock Exchange Academe Week 2011


The Philippines Stock Exchange (PSE) will conduct its Academe Week 2011, an investing literacy project pioneered by its Market Education Department in partnership with national and recognized student organizations, Council of Economics Students, Junior Philippines Economics Society, PSE Blue Chip Club and Bedan Business Spectrum Foundation on Sept 5- 10 2-11 at the different venues in NCR.

The Academe Week aims to:

1. Educate high school, college and post graduate students and educators about stock market investing through various activities which will stir intellectual and creative abilities, and

2. encourage them to be active participants in the Philippines stock and capital markets.

All high school nationwide are enjoined to participate in this week long event either in the seminars special events and in individual or group competitions through on line registration at the PSE website.

Write an Essay and Win 2 Classroom from My Phone



My School House, My Teacher, My Hero Search

As part of the various activities pertinent to the Teacher's Month Campaign and the World Teache's Day Celebration, My Phone in partnership with the DepED throught the Center for Students and Co Curricular Affairs will conduct the First My School House, My Teacher, My Hero Search.

The search aims to:

  • Highlight the significant roll of the teachers as genuine heroes of education
  • Recognize the singular efforts of the teachers in improving education in the country.
  • Provide free and decent school houses to the deserving schools through the fforts of the teachers
  • Inspire others to contribute in sincere nation building effort and
  • Instill awareness and drum up support for the Teachers Month Campaign and World Teachers Day Celebrations.

All entries must be submitted to the DepED CSCA G/F Mabini Bldg, DepEd Complex. Meralco Ave PAsig CIty. The deadline for submission of entreis is on Sept 15, 2011. Enclosed is the mechanics of the search.

All RD's, SDSs, SHs, are enjoined to support this seach by encouraging more teachers to participate and submit more entries.

Rationale

The search is a tribute to all teachers who make things happen, turn the impossible to possible, do some miracles and perform all sorts of magic because of their deep commitment to education. With this, they will be able to fulfill their dreams for their pupils and students to have a better chance in life through education.

Search Guidelines;

The teacher should in an essay, nominate a public kindergarten, elementary or secondary school, be able to tell his/her story and justify why the nominated school deserves to be awarded in free school house.

The essay maybe written in English or Filipino. It must have a short story of the nominated school and its current situation or special circumstance.

Prizes: The winning beneficiary school shall each receive one School House composed of two classrooms courtesy of My Phone.

9th NATIONAL SCIENCE QUEST

The Association of Science Educators in the Philippines (ASEP) will conduct the 9th National Science Quest on February 3-5, 2012 at the Baguio City National High School, Baguio City.

The schedule of competition in the different levels are as follows:

1. Division Level July to September 2011
2. Regional level October to December 2011
3. National Level February 3-5, 2011

The competition aims to promote academic excellence in science through camaraderie and sportsmanship.

The participants in the different categories are the following:

Each participant shall be charged with a registration fee of Two Thousand Four Hundred Pesos (PhP 2,400.00) to cover expenses for board and lodging, Honoria of judges, certificates, medals, trophies and other miscellaneous expenses.

All regional science supervisors and ASEP Officers should be at the venue on February 1, 2012 for the finalization of the Terms of Reference (TOR).

Consultation Workshop on the Results of the Return on Investment Technique Study

The Department of Education through the technical vocational education task force will conduct the consultation workshop on the results of the return of Investment Technique study on Sept 6-8, 2011 in Tacloban City Region VIII. This is an offshoot activity of the 2 clusters In country Training Efficiency and effectiveness using the Return on Investment Technique held at the Development Academy of the Philippines on June 13-17, 2011 and at the Balicasag Island Drive Resort Bohol on June 20-24, 2011

The workout shop aims to:

a. Evaluate the relevance f the training contents and the strategies - methodologies being used
b. Validate the qualification - training requirements for the participants in each training program

c. Revise the training design based on the feedback of participants

d. Draft Training Guidelines and

e. Discuss results of the reassessment of Tech-Voc schools as basis for policy recommendations.

The Successful Conduct of the 2011 Palarong Pambansa


The 2011 Palarong Pambansa was successfully conded in Dapitan City on May 8-14 2011. hence the Department of Education congratulates and expersses its gratitude to the hosts of this years Palarong Pambansa, the City Goverment of Dapitan and Dipolog, the Organizing committee of Dapitan City, DepED Region IX, Deped Division of Dapitan, Dipolog and Zamboanga del Norte and official member of Technical Management and Administration at the Central Office.
