To highlights its global commitment in the achievement of the Millenium Development Goal, DepEd in coordination with Philippines Commission of Women and other agencies shall observe the 2011 Womens Month Celebration with the theme "Magna Carta of Women, the Philippines CEDAW: In Support of the Millennium Development Goals" in March 2011. CEDAW refers to convention on the Elimination of all form of discrimination against women.
This celebration aims to:
a. promote women empowerment and gender equality in the country as stipulated in the Rep. Act N. 9710, Magna Carta of Women;
b. affirm the importance of gender equality and women empowerment in achieving the MDG 3 (Promote gender equality and empower women) and gender parity on access to quality basic education in achieving the MDG 2 (Achieve universal primary eduation) and
c. strengthen the mechanisms for Anti - VAW - C women empowerment and poverty alleviation.
The majoractivities for the 2011 Womens Month Celebration focus on the following
a. Lectures/forums on moral recovery program, Anti - VAW- C and Women Empowerment, Magna Carta of Women
b. livelihood and entrepreneurial sessions with the DTI
c. health and wellness workshops and
d. orientation on Drug Free Workplace with the Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)
