TUKLAS KALIKASAN 2013

The National Museum of the Philippines in collaboration with the City
Government of Tayabas, Quezon will hold a training/workshop entitled Tuklas
Kalikasan 2013 on April 10-13, 2013 at the Nawawalang Paraiso Resort and Hotel,
City of Tayabas, Quezon.

The Training-Workshop aims to:

1. Disseminate to the participants the museum’s knowledge and scientific expertise in the area of natural history by providing  experiential learning in an outdoor environment;
2. Encourage them better appreciation of nature and natural heritage conservation; and
3. Strengthen them awareness of the vast cultural heritage.  The target participants to this activity are Science teachers, teacher-educators, students, nature lovers, environmentalists, tourists and museum enthusiasts from both public and private sectors.

Participation of both public and private schools shall be subject to the no disruption-of-classes policy as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled
Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance

Mathematics Related Training for Teachers and Student - UP Los Banos

MATH IN ACTION (MiA) 2012

The Society of Applied Mathematics of the University of the Philippines (SAM-UP) Los Banos will conduct the Math in Action (MiA) 2012 on January 14-15, 2012 at the Vargas Ground, Makiling National Scout Reservation (Jamboree), Los Banos, Laguna.

The undertaking aims to boost the students’ understanding and admiration of Mathematics and its application to the society.

The participants are the high school students and their teachers from the R-IV-CALABARZON and National Capital Region (NCR) areas.

Every student-participant shall be billed a application fee of Seven Hundred Pesos (PhP700.00) and for the teacher-participant is Five Hundred Pesos (PhP500.00) to pay for the expenses of meals, camping fee and materials.

2011 Digital Teaching Innovation Training for Teachers

The Smart Teaching and Educational Providers (STEP) will conduct the 2011 Digital Teaching Innovation, a 3 day training with hands on application from June 3 to Sept 25, 2011 at the designated computer laboratories of the STEP partners assigned to the schools. The specific schedule or the training are follows:

Date - July | Time - Same - Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela CIty

The training aims to:

1. prepare the teacher participants to utilize the instructional technology tools responsibly;

2. help them value curriculum outcomes over technology;

3. educate them on how to use online grade books, which make sharing scores and classroom information with students and then parents much easier.

4. train them on the online education ( to use video conferencing like skype that will allow them to share media and information with student

5. develop digital learning materials which complement multi-sensory learning environments.

The participants to this training are the administrators, elementary and secondary teachers from both public and private schools. The names of teachers who will attend must be submitted by their school principals. They can bring their own laptops.

A registration fee of P800 will be charged each from public school participants and P1200 each from private school participants to cover the cost of venu8e training modules and certificates.

Australia Donate Training Center in Central Visayas

The Australian government has turned over to DepEd the Training and Development Center in Region VII based in Cebu City. The center will provide professional development for educational leaders, teachers and non-teaching staff.

The Learning Resource Management and Development System (LRMD) portal and Basic Education Information System (BEIS) are funded by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). These initiatives fall under the Stage 2 of Strengthening the Implementation of Basic Education in Selected Provinces in the Visayas (STRIVE) Project.

The LRMD contains lesson guides, interactive teaching materials and professional development materials while the BEIS is a system to enhance decision -making and optimize allocation of resources for school school officials.

NEAP Trained Thousand Principals

The (NEAP) National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) spent P55.18M last year for education development planning training last year.

They also include the school administrator for topics like record keeping, leadership, instructional leadership, school development planning and management practices.

DepED contracted the AIM or Asian Institute of Management requesting the school to offer the Management Development Program for superintendents and Basic Business Development Program for principals.

Recently, The Education Secretary is asking thousands of school leaders and officials to invest in their professional and career development since the educational issues and trends nowadays are can not be solve by the old and traditional way. The information superhighway alone are too broad and to fast is development.

Teachers Training on Campus Journalism

Regional Training of School Paper Advisers and Campus Journalists

The Department of Education (DepED) as mandated by RA no 7079 alson know as the Campus Journalist Act of 1991, through the BSE and BEE announces the conduct of the Regional Training of School Paper Advisers/Campus Journalists across the country between the 1st week of August and the last week of Sept inclusive.

The simultaneous training aims to develop the journalistic skills of new teacher advisers / campus journalists and further equipping the teacher advisers with the much needed skills in the field of journalism. The Region is advise to select 3 priority development areas that need upgrading based on the Regional standing or performance during the recent NATIONAL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE (NSPC)

The Regional Coordinator for Journalism, in coordination with the Regional School Paper Advisers Association shall n0minate the participants. There shall be a total of 32 participants for both the HS and Elem levels per division; 16 teachers advisers and 16 student journalists, 8 of whom shall come from the HS level and 8 from the elementary level with 4 English and 4 Filipino advisers and journalists respectively.

A subsidy of P16500 pesos is allotted per division and shall be drawn against the Campus Journalism Funds.

SMART Communication doing "Good Samaritan" for teachers and student

Smart program known as Smart School provides free training on creating web site for schools. They also provide free 50MB of server space and sub domain name for the School website. Domain and server on market value is P2000 annually. Configuring server and domain will cost the school another P1000 which is normally done by the web developer or web designer. So the the school have an initial saving amounting P3000 plus P500 for any site updates.

SMART have provided 10,000 teachers free training on ICT since 2004. They started to include the students in the training realizing the importance of the task in updating the site regularly. The students are expected to encourage other student in the content and design of the school websites while their teachers provides support for project continuity. Echoing of training is one of the SMART requirement.

I still remember when I was in Bohol during Information and Communication Technology Competition sponsored by STEP. I saw one student with a look of a farmer and dress like really one. What amazed me is his skills and knowledge using computer and internet. So i said to myself "MALAYO ANG MARARATING NG BATANG ITO"..

DepEd & DOST partner for Student Training in Science, Math and Technology

256 future scientist from various regional science high school students are welcomed in 9 days Science, math and Eng'g camp.The camp is organized by DepED and DOST as part of its commitment to produce more scientist from the the pool of students.

This academic camp will feature interactive, laboratory-based activities design to top the individual interest of students in the field of sciences, math and engineering. The camp start last May 3 and will close on May 12, 2009.


The Philippine government recognized the importance of science and technology as the building blocks of a progressive economy. Areas to be explore are Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Energy and materials engineering, Computer technology with instrumentation systems and mobile Robotics.

Career Seminar Given to Graduating Student

The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of the city of Bacolod and the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) conducted recently a career orientation to graduating students at Robinson’s Place, this city.

Students and teachers from Luis Hervias National High School, Emiliano Lizares National High School, and Visayan Maritime Academy (VMA) participated in the orientation.

Resource speakers from the various schools and universities were invited to present their schools and the different courses being offered in their respective institutions. Among them were University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Assistant Dean for the College and Arts & Sciences, Mariane Eusoya and Asian College of Aeronautics President, Ellen Lumawag.

The career orientation aims to minimize the gap of the labor supply and the labor gap to guide the students to take up courses that ensures immediate and high-paying jobs.

The orientation also provided the opportunity for TESDA to encourage students to avail of the free skills training program of the agency. Interested students may register for the skills training program of their choice at either the PESO or TESDA provincial office in Talisay City. (CMO/PIA/EAD)

Massive Teacher Training in DepED Region 11

Mendoza disclosed that so far, they have finished the first round of training for teachers in the first batch.

We are now on the second round of training for the second batch, he said.

He also said that they have a limit of 100 trainees for each subject area.

The training lasts from two weeks to two months depending on whether the training falls on a summer or mid-year break.

Teachers from private schools here provide us the expertise in training our teachers in the public schools, he said.

Mendoza added that they have three partner universities here such as the Ateneo de Davao University, which trains secondary education teachers; UIC, for elementary teacher; and the University of Mindanao, which gives expertise on the Filipino subject.

The program focuses on different subject areas by batch.

The first batch is trainees for the subjects Science, English, and Math and the second batch are for the areas in Filipino, Araling Panlipunan, Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), and Physical Education (PE).

PGMA's skills training program helps 8M jobless

Roxas City -- An estimated eight million jobless Filipinos have received the job skills training program of the government.

The figure is twice the number of beneficiaries of the training program in the previous 14 years.

This was revealed by President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo during the opening of the first jobs fair for Muslim Filipinos last September 3 held at the Philippine Trade and Training Center (PTTC) in Pasay City.

She said that the government is spending for the training of more dressmakers, hair-dressers, welders, automotive or auto mechanics, cellphone repairers which are in big demand abroad.

Sponsored by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Education (DepEd), the jobs fair exclusively for Muslims was attended by graduates of the Arabic Language and Islamic Value Education (ALIVE) of the DepEd. (PIA)
