Under the proposed salary increase for government employees, DepEd Teachers will receive an additional P6,500 a month within four years which is almost 60% increase from regular salary.
This increase is a join resolution of the the Congress committee on appropriations which overwhelmingly approved the proposal. Through this, the teachers is expecting salary increase starting July this year once approved by the president.
Congratulation to all teachers, the years of waiting is only until July this school year 2009-2010.

i think it's too early to celebrate such increase because the way i see it, it's still in the congress for the final reading, and the increase this coming june-july - 10% increase is nill, but we hope this said increase will materialize.

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, so if the salary increase would be P6,500 in 4 years, the computation for that would be P1,625/month, in conclusion the salary is still shortchanged, and it is the same with the 10% increase this coming July.

i cannot really imagine and accept the fact that military personnel are receiving higher salaries than us teachers who spent at least 4 years in college. TI salary is equivalent to Private First Class Military Personnel with a minimum education requirement of high school education diploma. milton was all wrong when he said that "pen is mightier than sword".

THE EARLIER THE BETTER. one of the motivations for teachers to be effecient and effective is to have a salary grade which really compensate on the tasks of our daily works. Teachers supposedly should be highly-paid so they can concentrate well in their lessopns.

I think the government should give special attention to us teachers. The Php6500 increase is a blessing. But compared to other countries who give high priority to their educators, it's nothing especially so that it will be given within 4 years. What is Php1625 a month? It's not even enough to buy us a cavan of rice!

It's too good to be true. I'll just wait until the president signs for approval. But for now, i'll just enjoy the too low salary.

good start and God bless those who support it one way or the other but how about non-teaching personnel? isn't the increase unfair? non-teaching/suppor staff work 8 hours a day and yet they earn less than half of what the teachers are receiving a month exclusive of other benefits teachers are receiving. this july, teachers' salary will be one step/three step higher than last year's salary... how about the support staff who are doing clerical works? are we not deserving to receive also one or two step higher salary grade?... come to think of it...

Ang tindi ng media hype about salary increase ng teacher pero di naman pala ibibigay ng july. Lahat kami halos disappointed ng pagsahod namin ng july, wala pa ring increase. Nang itanong namin ito, wala pa raw pondo...publicity lang pala

Bakit ganito ang gobyerno, napakaliit ng tingin sa mga guro, kaunting halaga na lamang na idadagdag sa sweldo, nanghihinayang pang ibigay... Karaniwan sa mga guro ay baon na sa utang. 3,000 na lang ang takehome pay dahil sa dami ng binabayaran. Pati ang allowance na ibinibigay ng munisipyo, hindi pa nakukuha, naibenta na sa utangan ng pera. Hindi madaling maging teacher... nagtitiis ka sa kakapiranggot na kita, samantalang ang iba sobra-sobra.
Sabi nila, ang pagtuturo ay debosyon... pero hindi ibig sabihin nito na dapat tiisin na rin ang kahirapan at gutom.

1. One of the salient features which was approved under the Salary
Standardization Law III is the provision of a 3-step increment for
teachers with specialization in Science and Mathematics. A teacher
should possess any of the following criteria in order to be entitled to

1) Must be a Science/Mathematics.major/minor;
2) If not a Science/Math major or minor, must have completed the
Certificate Program in Science/Math for High School teachers; and
3) Must be teaching Science and Mathematics for the last 5 years

hindi po ako nainclude dun dahil daw nagtuturo ako sa grade 3 at 2 years pa lang daw ako nagtuturo. pero ang pagkakaintindi ko sa memo ay basta mameet ung any of the criteria at nameet ko ung criteria no. 1. kahit hindi ako nagtuturo sa intermediate ay math major naman ako. ask ko lang po if dapat na kasama ako o hindi.

That's good news! I strongly believe that the government should pay attention on teachers' salary increase and more benefits... It's not easy being one.. for me, a teacher is a hero.. especially if they can stay in the Philippines to teach our fellow Filipinos instead of going abroad.. If only the government could give more emphasis on the teachers' needs.. One should understand that the teachers have important roles in One's future career.. Without the teachers, there would be no other professions in this world.. This is a good start.. I hope the government would not take for granted our precious possessions... Mabuhay to all the teachers!!!

May we appeal to the DepEd officials to please be fair to everyone; it's what we teach to our students. A teacher's effectiveness does not lie on his specialization. This is a seed of discontent that will grow into something that will adversely affect the students and somehow, the workplace. FEllow non-math and science teachers, what should we do about this?

I think this is grossly unfair! What's their basis for doing this? I read the unnumbered nat'l DepEd memo dated July 22, 2009 and it does not explain why. Some Sci or math teachers can teach their lessons with faulty English grammar and still get the 3 step increment(",)? To the supervisors of English and other subjects, maawa naman kayo and help us get treated fairly. Many English teachers are also going abroad for greener pasture. If it's because few are specializing in Chem and Physics, then this should be put to effect 5 years from now, but give the announcement now to encourage potentials to specialize in them. Imagine what thousands of dissatisfied non- sci or math teachers might do as a result of this biased, inconsiderate decision of the department. To anyone who can suggest something to right this injustice, we're open to it!

We are mostly criticized by the way we discipline students which must be the first hand responsibilities of insensitive parents....... How could we make lessons clear if there are students who are trained by parents how to criticized other beings......
