Why do they choose to wear scrubs?

Time has gone so fast and to recall during the time of Florence Nightingale who is the founder of Nursing we understand that they usually wore these gala type uniforms with aprons. And after that, as modernization comes so swiftly comes another type of uniform which are the scrub uniforms or scrub suits though gala was still one of the uniforms nurses wore. Scrubs were originally worn by doctors specifically the surgeons during operations and all of a sudden became the uniform in the laboratory, nurses, midwives and even attendants or assistants like almost all in the hospital has uniforms tailored like the scrub uniforms.

Even those in medical clinics and more so on spa and massage centers wore these type of uniforms. After all these immediate and addictive stage form of dressing, questions came out as to why and how did they all liked to wear scrub uniforms! Even if well just focus in the hospital's vicinity, we will be confused as to who is the doctor, who is the nurse, who is really the midwife! Well with regards to the attendant it would be uplifting for him or her if he/she be called as a nurse and worst if be called as a doctor! But in reverse what if we miss to identify the doctor and thereby call him as an attendant? Well the point here is not with the style or choice of fashion or dressing but at least there should be a standard as to choosing the color. So like for instance all medical practitioners should agree that doctors should be wearing only colored blue scrub uniforms at the same time nurses should only be wearing white scrubs since they are the followers of nightingale who really gives extra importance on cleanliness through purity. The rest must then be discussed by all concerned, like it should be worldwide if possible.

And so the second question goes: how did they became to like this simple style of a lab coat or uniform? And the answer here is simply because they are more comfortable working using the said kind of uniform.

This uniform scrub is more comfortable to use compared to the gala uniform and just to note: nurses are not allowed to wear wrinkled uniforms! And so they like this much better because its easy to wash dry and fold and also because they don't quite worry of their actions for just the uniform. They can now be more efficient in work through this wrinkle free material of the scrub suits. One good thing to suggest to manufacturers and suppliers of these scrubs is to make sure that the right people are going to use the uniform and are not to be sold as uniforms for baby sitters and nannies.

Will Japan Accept their Responsibility to the World?

At the recent Copenhagen climate summit, Japanese negotiators were virtually invisible, at least as reported in the media. Japan is often described as playing a much smaller role in global affairs than one might expect of the world’s second largest economy. Yale University

In an American essay that I read yesterday, it was reported that for two decades the US government is courting the Japanese government to start participating more in international politics. Since Japan is the 2nd richest country in the world, then according to Americans, Japan should start sharing its technology, business strategies, political cultures and more to the world especially to the third world country.

United States believed that it is the duty of the well developed country to share its blessing to other countries that in need of help. I do not know if this is also the thinking of rich European countries but there are indications that these countries think the same with the Americans. One example is the willingness of the European countries to accept immigrants as part of their citizens. Many European countries are promoting student exchange to enhance cultural relationship and understanding among races.

These indicators are different from Japanese society. Until now, Japan do not allowed immigrants to become Japanese citizens and of course they are not allowed to vote. In one news that was released last year, A Filipino family was sent to Philippines because of over staying. Their child was born, educated in Japanese schools and bear Japanese culture sent together with her parents. The child does not even speaks local language and do not understand Filipino culture.

The American wanted Japanese government to do their American way so that it will have a mixture of culture and a mindset of Globalization rather than selfishness that might lead to racism. The American’s consider third world country as their burden but they still believed that it is the duty of rich country to help others. That is the mindset of Globalization and civilized world according to them. No question about that for me because it is logically and unquestionable. Since US thinks about it, it wanted Japan to do the same. US believed that through economy, Japan can influence the world too. It means sharing of responsibility and less burden to American economy.

On the hand, US and other countries still have worries if Japan started to influence the world through economic politics like the US does. It’s about Japan’s attitude of imperialism and its ability to create military forces that could threaten not only its neighbor but also its own allies. The worries are real because it has background. But if the Japanese government started to accept its responsibility not only to its neighbor but also to the whole world then we can guarantee that Japan will no longer think about colonizing other country.

European countries are rich because their share their resources with other society of different cultures. Americas and some of its neighbor are rich because they do share their resources too. Asia, particularly East Asia is less developed countries because it still united as EUROPE. There is one country that should take a lead for East Asia. No one can unite East Asian countries right now because everyone thinks that each country is equal and enjoys the national pride of their owned. The truth is, to be able to develop a sound economy in East Asia, technology and investment should flow freely. There is one common law in EAST ASIA that will be establish by the member states and being lead by no other than the richest country in EAST Asia which is JAPAN.

Campus Journalism Funds Diverted to another Program

Press Conferences are held every year. Starting from the division level, it goes to the regional level and finally to the national level. Student's writer who qualify in every level will move one by one until their reach the prestigious national level. However, because of scarcity of funds, there are times when winning campus writers cannot compete with the winners in regional level, much more to the national level.

The reason for this is that the schools depend on PTCA (Parent-Teacher-Community Association) funds’ participation in and out of town press conferences. Sometimes, these are curtailed because either funds are diverted to other purpose or there are no collections at all. It’s disheartening to know that a provision in the DepEd memorandum 203 dated June 5, 2006, stated with the regional trainings of advisers and campus journalists shall be subsidized by the Campus Journalism Funds (CJF). But based on our experience, our participation in the regional press conferences was never subsidized by the CJF. There was an instance when we did not participate in the regional press conference because we did not have funds for fare, registration and allowance for the contingent. It was really frustrating as we had seven winners in the division level.

Even if the former DepEd Director Mordeno in the Philippines emphasized that school paper funds should be deposited in a bank with the principal, adviser and editor-in-chief as signatories, this was not so during our times where the majority of advisers principals and editor-in-chiefs were clamoring for the lack of funds. On the contrary, the PTCA collected and kept custody of all funds. They kept on ignoring the call and earnest request by the concerned persons to hand over the money to the in-charge of the publication.

On behalf of the advisers and editor-in-chiefs of the publication, we wish other principals adhered to the directive of regional director and insisted that funds be intended for school paper and be given or entrusted to the school and not the PTCA.
