50TH Standard COURSE OF THE MASTER IN NATIONAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION

(MNSA) PROGRAM FOR ACADEMIC YEAR (AY) 2014-2015

The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) is now accepting nominees
for its 50th Regular Course of the Master in National Security Administration (MNSA)
Program for Academic Year (AY) 2014-2015, which will meet on the first week of
October 2014.

The Course is a one-year full-time government-funded scholarship which comprises
of 37 units of multi-disciplinary programs relating to the political, economic, socio-cultural,
techno-scientific, environmental, and military dimensions of national safety; three
developing courses of national security administration, policy studies, research methods;
and a masters thesis.

The MNSA Program aims to develop the competencies, values, and abilities of key
officers and national safety leaders in the formulation and implementation of policiesassociated with national security and development.

The nominees are selected in their capacities as national security leaders with Salary Grade 18 and above or its similar. The civilian graduate students have preferential consideration for promotion or appointment to key positions in the government and the opportunity of being commissioned as Lieutenant Colonels or Commanders in the Reserve Force, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). In addition, the Career Executive Service (CES) Eligibility process required for the CES Eligibility has been integrated within the MNSA Program.


The due date for submission of names of competent candidates is on or before March 31, 2014. The MNSA Admission Tests (MNSAAT) are scheduled on the second week of April 2014. The application forms may be downloaded from www.ndcp.edu.ph and to be
submitted to the NDCP Registrar’s Office at least two weeks before the date of the examinations.

Swiss Gov’t offers scholarships to Filipino Educators and Medical Professionals

The Swiss Government is offering a scholarship grant to Filipinos taking a doctorate degree or medical doctors who would like to undertake specialization in preferred Swiss universities.

Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC took the invitation which he disseminated to Department of Education (DepEd) personnel and to the academic community. “We want this offer, which is included in the continuing promotion of understanding and relationship between our nation and the Swiss Confederation,” he said.

The due date for application for scholarship for Academic Year 2014 - 2015 is on November 15, 2013.

The offer is a research scholarship for citizens taking up PhD in their state and wishing to execute a 12-month research with a mentor in a Swiss school. It is also intended for medical doctors completing specialization. Also available is a PhD for students wishing to move through a PhD program in one of the Swiss universities for a maximum of 36 months.

There is also a grant for post-doctoral scholarship for researchers possessing a PhD who wants to conduct a post-doctoral research in Swiss universities for 12 months.

ONE-YEAR MASTER’S PROGRAMMES OF THE INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT POLICY AND MANAGEMENT

The Institute of Development Policy and Management (IOB) of the University of Antwerp announces the three (3) fulltime one-year Master’s Programmes with a high

Scholarship agreed to strengthen culture-based instructing of fundamental education

Notice of Availability of Scholarship Grants under the Enhancement Training Sponsorship Project of the Exchange Visitors Program

The Exchange Visitors Program Committee of the Phils is now accepting applications for scholarship grans under its Enhancement Training Sponsorship Project. The ETSP is a program funded by Exchange Visitors Program participants who are undertaking alternative arrangement in lieu of the 2 year home country residency requirement of the EVP. The project allots a maximum of US$1500 per scholar per course with the funding being released at the beginning of each term. The ETSP is one of the efforts of the government to enhance the skills pool of the Philippines while allowing Filipino professionals to find better income overseas to support thier families.

The scholarship fund used for the ETSP goes to qualified professionals who seek to pursue graduate and postgraduate studies in the fields included in the skills List of the Phils. The skills List is a directory of skills that are in short supply of practitioners in the Philippines and therefore very much needed. An ETSP scholarship applicant must posses the following qualifications:

1. Must be a Filipino Citizen
2. Must have completed a 4 year bachelor degree ( For MA degree and for Phd Degree)
3. Must be a good moral character as attested by the last school attended or present employer.
4. Must have satisfactory undergraduate grades particularly in under his or her field of study.

Master's Degree Program in Public Policy and Management

The commission on Higher Education - CHED Scholarship Coordinating Committee annonces its offering of the Master Degree Progarm in Public Policy and Mangement" which will commence in January 2011. The program is jointly sponsored by the Colonmbo Plan Secretariat and KDI School.

The following are the requirements for the program.

a. Qualificaiton Requirements

a. Must not be 45 years old
b. Must have rendered at least 2 eyars of service
c. Must hold a permanent appointment
d. Must have a college degree related to the field or has demonstrate ability and experience along the filed of study.
e. Must no have a pending application for scholarship under another program.
f. Must have rendered the service obligation required under EX no 367 for scholarship recently concluded before he she could again be nominated for another course where the field of study is different from the previous training.

B. Financial Assistance

The following documentary requirements should be submitted on or before Sept 15

1. A letter of nomination addressed to the CHED Chairman.
a. That the monminee has no pending administrative and criminal charges.
b. That the nominne has been conferred with a degree.
c. Assurance of utilizing the services of the nominee, if accepted for a period of not less than 2 years of scholarship or a fraction thereof not less than 6 months or a provided under EO 367 amending EO 129
d. That the salary of the grantee will be paid while on trainign and shall be extended other fiancial priviledges pursuant to the said EO.

5. Certification of nominee that has no pending administrative, criminal and scholarship nomination to other program.

Scholarship offered to Pre-School Teacher

Grantees include 60 teachers from Region I, 45 teachers from Region II, 70 teachers from CAR. They will be sent to Benguet State University, Benguet. In the Visayas, 238 teachers from Region VI will get training in Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in Talisay City, Negros Occidental. Fifty-six teachers in Region XII and 160 teachers from ARMM will study in the University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan, North Cotobato.

The program is designed to provide preschool teachers in public schools quality preparations to meet the standards required by the department for preschool teachers. DepEd requires pre-school teachers to have degrees in Preschool Education, Teaching Early Grades or Early Childhood Education.

"We expect to enhance teachers' competencies particularly on the use of developmentally appropriate methods and strategies in developing the child's full potential in physical, social, emotional and cognitive areas," said Education Secretary Jesli Lapus.

According to Lapus, the preschool graduate program consists of two terms. The first half will be during the semester break, while the second term is slated in summer of 2009.

"This way they will all be able to accomplish the two-term program by the Summer of 2009," Lapus added.

The scholarship program is intended for regular and newly deployed preschool teachers in Social Reform Agenda (SRA) provinces and preschool supervisors installed for the last three years. As an additional requirement, the grant is for teachers 50 years old and below.

Lapus said: "DepEd recognizes the importance of preschool education in determining the readiness of children upon entry in grade 1. Quality preschool education sufficiently prepares children for higher education."

Teachers enrolment in the semester program kicked off in October 8 with orientation slated on October 20. Their training will run for 54 hours.

Grantees are entitled to their salaries, free tuition fees, a stipend of P3,000, lodging allowance of P2,000, book allowance of P2,000 per term. Their traveling expenses will likewise be covered by DepEd.

Last summer, the first batch of 580 teachers and 6 coordinators already began their institution-based summer institute program. These teachers will continue their training next summer.

Preschool teachers from Regions III, IV-A-IVB, and NCR were trained at the Philippine Normal University. Those from Region V went to Bicol University. Teachers in Region VI, VII, and VIII received training in Cebu Normal University while those in Region IX, X, XI and CARAGA studied at the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City.
