8th STEP NSDC 2010 - Camarines Sur Naga City

8th Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines National Skills Development and Competition (STEP - NSDC)
1. Pursuant to DEPED Memorandum No. 348, s. 2009 on the Guidelines in the Conduct of STEP Skills Development and Competitions in various levels and categories, the Department of Education (DEPED) will conduct the 8th Student Technologies and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines-National Skills Development and Competitions (STEP-NSDC) on February 5-10, 2010 at the Camarines Sur National High School, Naga City.

2. The STEP is the official co-curricular organization of the Department of Education in the Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP), Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) and Technical Vocational Education (TVE) which provides pupils and students with practical experiences, technical know-how and opportunities in home economics agricultural technology, industrial arts, entrepreneurship and ICT integration while developing their leadership abilities and personal skills, and building wholesome character to strengthen national competitiveness and productivity.

3. With the rallying banner "STEP: Upgrading Skills, Improving Lives", this year edition of the STEP NSDC shall feature 11 skills in the elementary category and 18 skills and 3 other contest in the secondary category, and 24 skills in the technical-vocational category apart from the Annual STEP Awards and their activities.

4. The guidelines specified in DepED Memorandum No. 348 s. 2009 shall apply in its entirety in the conduct of STEP NSDC. Travel of participants shall be on official business. The registration for each participants is P4700 chargeable against school, MOOE,PTA Funds, Local School Board Funds, STEP Funds and other sources.

STEP Contest Guidelines

Guidelines in the conduct of STEP Skills Development and Competitions in Various Levels

To provide uniform and standard implementation of skills competitions and in preparation for the STEP-NSDC The Dept of Education hereby issues the guidelines in the conduct of STEP Skills Competition.

This year theme is "A STEP Higher: Upgrading Skills, Improving Lives" which will feature new skills contest packages development during the YECS and STEP Annual Evaluation and Planning Conference.

All Elementary and Secondary Schools, division and regional offices shall conduct their respective skills competition not later than OCT 31 2008.

Consultative and Planning Conference for Technical - ocational Skills Competition

In conformity tot he recently conductted YECS and STEP annual Evaluation, Planning COnference and Workshop last July 1-6 2008 at the Marikina Hotel, Marikina City, There is a need to call for a 2day consultative and planning conference for the technical vocational regional representatives, school principals, dpartment heads and TVE teachers to achieve the following objectives;

1. Craft and finalize the Tech - VOc contest package.
2. Plan for the forhcoming competition in the regional and national levels scheduled on OCtober and November 2008 respectively.
3. Identify and discuss issues and concerns relative to the competitions.

Participants are requested to attend the conference from July 30 to August 1 2008 at the Development Academy fo the Philippines (DAP) Tagaytay CIty.

Participants are advised to bring along job order/contest packages/criteria or contest guidelines relatige to skills in all areas of specialization. Please call 026339346 6320170 for details.
