FUN RUN - 1st BOY SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES

In commemoration of the 100 Years Celebration of Scouting in the Philippines, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) headed by the Vice President of the Philippines, Honorable Jejomar C. Binay, BSP National President, will hold the First Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Fun Run with the theme Boy Scouts Centennial Run 2014...Takbong Laging Handa on May 24, 2014, 4:30 a.m. at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila.


The target participants are students from both public and private elementary and secondary schools (Boy Scouts and non-Boy Scouts members), members of BSP, officials of the National Executive Board, the officers of the Board of Directors and its members, government officials and local executives like congressmen, governors, mayors and councilors.

2013 Philippines Youth Games - Batang Pinoy

Pursuant to executive order #44 from the office of the President dated December 2, 1998, entitled declaring the Philippine YOuth Games Batang Pinoy as the national sports development program for children. 

The DepED and the DILG being co chairmen of the National Physical Fitness adn Sports Development Program shall assist the PSC in planning information dissemination, coordination, monitoring and actual implementation of the program. The 2013 Philippines Youth Games Batang Pinoy shall be held in cluster on the ff dates and venues

Mindanao Qualifying Leg Aug 24-31 Tagum City
Visayas Qualifying Leg Sept 24-28 Maasim City Southern Leyte
Luzon Qualifying Leg Oct 15-19   Iba Zambales
National Finals  Nov 19-23  Zamboanga City

The PYG's aims is to address the cuntrys need for a comprehensive grassroots program centered on values formation inherent in the practice of sprots and play such as patriotism, nationalsim, slef discipline, respect for law and order, hard work, team work, camaraderie, sportsmanship and fair play.

The guidelines for the participation of public school elementary pupils and secondary students as atheletes and the involement of school officials and personnel, teachers as well as coaches and officialting are as follows;

Pupils and students atheletes and school coaches shall be shouldered by the local governmetn units

The LGU shall coordinate with the division/city schools PESS and school sports superisors regarding identification, recruitment and participation of the pupils student atheletes and the designation of coaches.

PE and other DepED Teacher and non teaching personnels selected by the NSA as confirmed by the PSC shall serve as officiating officials.

Make up classes shall be held after each cluster and national championship.

PSC shall allocate funds for the 2013 PYG Batang Pinoy.

Punlic school premisses shall not be used as sports competition venues,billeting areas and other purposes unless otherwise approve the the DepEd through the office of the UNdersecretary for Regional operations

9 Badminton Basic That Beginners Should Learn

Provincial runs will be held simulataneuoly in Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dipolog, Dumaguete, Legaspi, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zamboangan and Zamboanga - Sibgay.

Ten Moves! Run for 10 on January 13

The simulatanoues fun run activity aims to donate its proceeds for the benefits of the Ten Moves! a public fundraising campaign to help build 10,000 classrooms in public schools nationwide.

Launced in Oct 2011, the Ten Moves! is a project of the Bayanihang Pampaaralan initiative developed by the 57-75 Education Reform Movement in response to the Department apeeal to the private sector to help address the classroom backlog estimated qt 66,800.

The 10 Noves is being representd by the League of Corporate Foundations, Philippines Busines for Social Progress and the Philippines Business for Eduation which are callin for the combined support of corporation , organization and individual toward the attainment of a common goal for the benefit of thousants of Filipino pupils and students. This campaign calls for at least 2 million Filipino to donate 10 pesos a day for 10 months or a total of P3000 per individual.

Good Conversation Tips For Coaching


Coaches have tremendous influence over their athletes’ habits and beliefs on and off the sector. Today I would like to share with you some methods to improve your communication using your team.

To Create Good Communication Focus on the Positive And Repeat It Often


Recently I thought back to my own experiences as a youthful athlete. What really separated itself for me was not my mentor, but my mom constantly saying, “You can do anything you want if you place your mind to it. I believe within you.” I can still hear the girl voice in my head.

Had been my mom a perfect parent? Definitely not, but she put a lot of energy into teaching us that one big lesson. We encourage you to have themes or templates or statements to motivate your athletes that you repeat over and over to your athletes who are empowering and they will remember the remainder of their lives.

Here’s a few examples, “The invariably winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am.” ~ Dennis Waitley

“Success isn’t a thing that just happens - accomplishment is learned, success will be practiced and then it is shared.“ ~ Sparky Anderson

You could also create a vision or perhaps theme as a team. At a team meeting have your sports athletes brainstorm a list of statements. Here are some ideas for such a meeting:


  1. Get specific as to what every single athlete would like to hear when they struggle to be engaged in practice or perhaps, when they lose or create a big mistake.
  2. Mention the similarities and differences so everyone understands that every athlete is unique and will get motivated in different ways.
  3. Supply copies to the team as well as parents so everyone can employ and support these phrases often.
  4. Set up a standard theme to always end methods and competitions by revealing what they learned or enjoyed about their performance (e.g., “I liked how I got off at the beginning of the race”), NOT what they wanted or desired they do greater (e.g., “I dropped again too early).

We hear from youth sports parents all the time at the Mental Toughness Team, who worry their kids "use such negative self talk" or "beat them up". I think this is a significant issue mothers and fathers need to address.

Gloomy thoughts or beliefs don't just "go away" without perspective and retraining our brains. I want to share with you the importance of using positive thoughts in sports and some tools and techniques you can use to help out your son or daughter after they choke or screw up.

The Power of Optimistic Thinking When You Play Sports


Youth sport parents and youth athletes often fail to notice the significant influence that upbeat beliefs and thoughts have on both playing the game and in their daily activities. We're all human and accidents happen - the key is not to let unhelpful thinking turn into a big monster in the room that blocks all of the amazing things you're great at doing.I'm going to give you some strategies on positive thinking and how to keep nonconstructive thoughts from getting in your way and stop you from being your very best - in your schoolwork, your athletics and in every aspect of your life.

Negativity Can Spread If You Are Not Careful


Have you ever run into people who are in a negative mood and when you were done talking with them, you found yourself very upset? Then your own pessimistic feelings have an effect on those people. The chain keeps getting longer, unless you look back and sees that one bad communication can result in many people with downbeat mindsets.

Let's apply that to your sports. If you make a mistake or someone scores a few points off of you, yes, that's upsetting! However, there's no reason to hurt somebody's feelings or beat you up. Playing sports for kids is healthy and teaches them how to be competitive, but they're supposed to have fun too. The simplest way for the team to fall apart is for one person to be full of negativity. Soon, that terrible attitude will affect others and playing will no longer be fun for anyone.

When you are face negativity, you need to figure out how to stop it how to do it fast. I wanted to give you a few ideas on how to keep negativity off the field, so you can give attention to the more important things.

Turning Unconstructive Thoughts into Optimistic Ones


Everyone has difficult days every once in awhile. Not everyone makes the final goal or the best grades without hard work and lots of studying. You can end up beating yourself up when things don't go the way you hoped or you say something you will regret. This is doubt and fear, and as I just mentioned, it's actually worse than the thing that made you feel down in the first place.

Think of negativity as a high-pressure game. If someone throws you some negativity, you get to decide if you send it off to others and let your bad feelings affect them or you can work on your thoughts and turn things around. If negative events and words make you feel sad or worried, you will eventually wind up filled with stress and doubts. What you have to understand is that there is nothing so awful that you cannot use positive thinking to turn it around.

If you choke during your next big event or game, reflect on what went down and what you can do to improve next time. If you get a bad grade, figure out what you can do differently and how to look at the problem differently.

The key is not to dwell on unpleasant things - its never productive. Using positive thinking and self talk as well as learning from your mistakes, will actually increase your chances for success on the field and in every aspect of your life.

Don't Be Afraid To Seek Out Help from Friends and Teachers


Believe me we are all our own worst critics. Most people find themselves thinking negatively, way before anyone else even says anything negative to you. Get with your team and your coach and ask them to go over with you what you did in your match or during practice that was not working, so you are prepared the next time. If you're worried or stressed about something, talk about it with your teachers and family. They want you to be successful and be your best.

Don't forget your family, your friends and your teammates care about you and the success of the team depends on the accomplishments of everyone involved. They know that negative thinking doesn't help anyone and can bring the whole team down.

Ideally, as often as possible, you want to put forth your most optimistic thoughts. This will motivate you and positively affect everyone around you.

2012 Palarong Pambansa

DepEd Student to Attend Olympics in Athens

SPED athletes shine in Palaro, Three or more qualify for Specific Olympics within Athens.

2011 Palarong Pambansa








The 2011 Palarong Pambansa shall be held on May 8-14, 2011 in Dapitan City. This years palaro will be hosted by the DepEd Regional Office 9 and deped Division Office of Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.

The objective of the Palarong Pambansa 2011 are to:

a. promote Physical Educations and sports as an integral part of the basic education curriculum and as an affirmation to the schools commitment to the full development of the great potentials of the youth to become responsible and globally competitive citizens of the society.

b. Instill and imbibe among pupils and students the spirit of discipline, teamwork, challenge, excellence, fair play, solidarity, sportsmanship and other values inherent in sports.

c. widen the base for talent identification, selection, recruitment, training and exposre of elementary pupils and secondary students.

d. provide database for a value and universal basis to further improe the school sprots development program and

d. server as a feeder to the National Sports Association for further training of athletes for international competitions.

Approved technical guidelines are enclosed for information, guidance and compliance of all concerned. Additional events for this years Palaro are arnis for Elementary and Basketball for girls.

22nd MILO LITTLE OLYMPICS

Per DepED Advisory No. 121 s. 2010 Nestle Philippines will hold its 22nd season of the Milo Little Olympics in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and the NCR in the following venues.

Luzon  -  Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center Lingayen Pangasinan

Visayas -  Cebu City Sprots Comples Cebu City
                 August 7,8,14,15 2010

Mindanao -   Cagayan de Oro Sports Complex

NCR  -  Marikina Sports Center, Marikina City

The contest will feature the following sports disciplines: athletics, badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, law tennsi, scrabble , sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.

Participation in the 22nd Milo Little Olympics is open to all public and private elementary and secondary school

The national finals will be held in Oct 22-24 in Cagayan de Oro City to be participated by winners in the regional competitions.

Sports for Peace Event

The Natioanl Peace Consciousness Month is celebrated in Sept of every eyar per Persidential Proclamation no.675.

In conncection with this years celebration, the Deutsch Gesellschaft fur Technisch Zusammenabeit - Conflict Transformation Mindanao Preparation Caraga Program has organzied a Sport for Peace event in the caraga Region.

The SFP event aims to provide school children the opprtunity to play and enjoy the games, interact with other children to exchange ideas, develop friendship that cut across borders and engage in friendly competitions. More importantly they learn that even in deiversity, people with different beliefs, practices, originsand languages could embrace each other engage in the same activities and work together to achieve common goals. The activities promote peace and solidarity, teamwork and socialization while establishing the basic foundation of the sprots core values.

First National Arnis Congress

The Philippines Sport For All PSFAA  - International, Inc, held its First National Arnis Congress last Dec 10-12, 2009 at the Rizal Technological University, Mandaluyong City with the theme "Arnis: Heritage of Our Identity As a Great Nation".

Participants of this event are the PE coaches, arnis instructiors and sports coordinators in schools, colleges and universitiies nationwide. Because of this affair, the ARNIS is now the national sport of the country.
