where did you take your LET?

Good Day, Mentor!I just want to ask if there are changes with the number of Education units for non-Education graduates? I am planning to take the exam next year (2009). Thank you very much.God Bless...

Claw Machines said...

It is always 18units. So far no requirements for additional units for the non education graduate.

Anonymous said...

If you are abroad and want to apply for the examination through relative are not allowed since pictures and signature are critical to PRC. They have only one authorized picture taker. Signature are not required because you need to sign again during examination

Anonymous said...

Is it true that the required Educ units next year would be 40+ already?I just heard it from a friend 3 days ago. Hope it's not true.

Unknown said...

Mentor "It is always 18units. So far no requirements for additional units for the non education graduate."

is this really true?
i was a graduating student of a non-Educ course... but i was really planning to take LET... and pursue teaching on early childhood

so this is good news, if it's true...

thanks

Hi, I need your help/insights. I would like to ask if I am qualified to take the LET Exam? I'm a B.A. English Studies graduate of UP and have gained 30 units of M.A.Ed in Guidance from the same school.I have no experience in teaching. Many have informed me that I need to take up BSE course to earn the 18 education units required to take the board exam. Is this true? Can't the 30 MAEd units be considered? Hope you will be able to respond. Thanks! ;p

Greetings!I am a graduate of Bachelor in Elementary Education course in April 2006; but I haven't take a Licensure Examination for
Teachers yet. My former instructors/professors had informed me that the exams contained in Professional Education had been revised/changed and perhaps a different one from what i have studied and learned. Some told me that I must avail those newly revised books, all of which are recently used in BEED course by some universities. To cite, those are: The Teaching Profession; Curriculum Development; Field Study; Assessment of Learning and others. It was confusing; and I am afraid I might gone to a wrong decision. Does anyone here have any idea of the revision/changes i had mentioned above? Its effectivity? Should I continue studying those new books? Thank you and
may the grace of God be with you all!

Normally, LET includes the latest and the Asian Principles of Teaching. Overall content of the LET Examination still will come from the curriculum issued by the government. As long as the school is updated with the latest development in teaching strategies then there is no worry.

hi, i'm a graduate of BSNursing and have gained 36 units in MAEd Guidance & Counseling and took up professional education units in the same university, and i have at least 11 years teaching experience in college. Am i qualified to take the LET? what are the requirements to be submitted? thanks and more power...hope i'll hear from you soon...

Have you finish 18units of Professional Education subjects. This is important not only in passing board exam but also in the application of teaching process.

All requirements are listed above

Good luck.

Hi! I took BSE-English in college but I wasn't able to finish it. I stopped at 4th year and to my knowledge, I lack several units (including thesis) but I was able to finish my practicum as a student teacher. I would like to know if I can take the LET exam?

Thank you!

Hi PT Graduate.

It is nice that you are planning to join the teaching career. Your career background will become an asset to DepED.

However, you are required to finished 18units of Professional Education subjects. There are many college and universities that offer a CPE Program for a those professional who want to pursue career in teaching.

Goodluck

Follow up question about the LET exam. I'm the one who took BSE-English several years before. I'm now enrolled in another university taking up AB-English. After I graduate, can I use my previous units for the LET exam?

Thanks!

Hi Mentor! I would just like to ask if the units in the Masters Degree in FLCD (Family Life and Child Development - UP Diliman) are accepted when applying to take the LET? Can they be considered as education units or would I have to take extra educ units to qualify for the exam?

(Family Life and Child Development - UP DILIMAN)

The subject for 18units professional education are needed not only in classroom teaching but also for board exam.

Some of these are
Principles of teaching
Foundation of Education 1 and 2
Strategies of Teaching
etc etc etc.

If you have that in your post graduate then you may. If not then you have to take the 18units

Is it true that former graduates, who have not take the LET yet, should study or take additional educational units so as to meet the requirements needed in taking the exam?
Please feel free to give me some information regarding this matter. thank you and god bless you all.

I think there is no need for that as long as you complete the required units during college. All you need to have is your transcript of record with SO number, birth certificate and pictures.

Mentor, there's no clear cut info about how many units are required to take the LET exams. Its noted here, according to you, that it's 18 units. But from the college I graduated, they insisted that CHED has changed it to 32 units since last year (2008). Please help us with the correct info. Also, if it's 18 units only, please inform us if there will be any changes in the near future. I hope you can help us..Thanks!

I just finished my Certificate in Teaching from Bicol University last week. My bachelor's degree was Agribusiness.

To qualify for September LET, we took a total of 30 units. The 30 units were broken down as follows:

12 units for Field Study Courses and Practice Teaching
6 units for Theory and Concepts
12 units for Methods and Strategies

Our college dean told us that the September LET will be the first batch under new curriculum. Those who graduated under the old curriculum needs to take the required subjects.

Can I take LET if I have satisfied 9 units of education courses from my mother university while the other 9 units from another university? Or should I apply for a certificate program? Thank you.

hi... Would appreciate if you could shed some light on the # of units required to take the LET come Sept. '09: is it 18 or 36 units?

We have been getting conflicting answers. Got word this afternoon--- it's actually hearsay, that someone submitted requirements for the Sept. '09 LET armed with only 18 units. That applicant was rejected by PRC-Cebu.

HELP...Our review starts tomorrow and there is no one to give us the correct info as our university is of no help. Confusion is the name of the game.

And LET REVIEW STARTS TOMORROW!!!

Hope to hear from you soon...

I don't have any idea about Part II because I don't have specialization and my major is General Education, by the way I'm an Elementary Education graduate. Can you please elaborate it...thank you..

It seems the examination is using the latest curriculum for Elementary Education graduate. I advise LET takers to visit Philippine Normal University. This government school is the center for excellence in Education and they always have latest curriculum for teacher. You can ask prospectus there to find out the content of the latest curriculum.

Napapansin ko hindi masyadong masagot ng mentor and deped teachers ang mga concerns ng mga nagtatanong tungkol sa gustong kumuha ng LET na non-educ grad.

I browsed over the site of the UP Open University and found the clusters. Deped Teachers and Mentor, kindly check if this is updated. I guess this could help the non-educ grads of what courses to choose, or if they have already taken some educ units, they can check this out if they are indeed qualified to take the LET.

Annoying na din kasi yung tanong sila ng tanong, they check out your site from time to time just to see that there are no direct answers from you. No offense lang po.

Response to this: from Concerned Citizen

I have just contacted the Registrar Office of one of the Universities in Pangasinan a while ago and she said that she've talked to one of the PRC officers in Baguio City PRC regarding the latest update of the LET requirements, she was told
that the 18 units requirements for taking the LET is until this year and the last exam for this year 2009 is on September. She was also told that PRC will enforce a new semester hour requirements, isn't 18 units but more than 18 or maybe 24. She will inform me by email today, as she'll have to contact again the PRC region for the confirmation. If this is confirmed, all those Non-Educ professional who have finished or are now being enrolled for 18 units should take additional units for you to qualify on the next LET 2010 tests on April 2010 and September 2010 which has a deadline of January 31, 2010 and June 30, 2010 respectively. Anyhow, I will give you an update as to how many units will be added for the next rulings of PRC LET starting 2010 tests.
If your place locates a close office to PRC, you can visit them and verify, or you may call your Region's PRC, otherwise if you are intending to take the LET on April 2010, and you werent informed about the units requirements of LET, then you have already wasted your time.

Also in reference to the inquiry above by the Anonymous: If you have considered taking the LET on April 2010, although you said that you were enrolled to BSED, why you didn't ask first the school the required subjects for LET; whereas, you should only be having a pure Educ Courses that the PRC requires? I can provide you a list of the courses, you can email me at ecayabyab@hotmail.com, and I will reply to you immediately.
Hope this helps.

I posted the message below days ago. I went to PRC this afternoon to have my records assessed and I'm happy to announce that I am eligible to take the LET this September 2009.

For what I have perceived, pwede kaming/ako kumuha ng Licensure Exam? correct me if I'm wrong. And one more thing, do I need to take another units of education to teach, or is it just ok if I don't? In public schools, you need to take the LET before you can teach. In some private schools, if non-educ grad, you are given at least 3 yrs to finish the units and take the LET provided you submit a promissory note regarding this.

Hi po... ask ko lang po kung pwede magturo ang isang unit earner na LET passer for secondary education sa elementary... what po kaya mga requisites para makapagturo sa elementary?

-----------------

I think it depends on the school that you will apply to..

Sa public, if you are a secondary LET passer, pang secondary ka talaga. Hindi ko lang alam kung pwedeng ma break yun in circumstances that they'd be needing elem teachers and secondary LET passers na lang available.

Based on experience, if private, hindi sila mashadong strict especially if you have the potential to teach in elementary. May demo teaching naman yan eh. However, there are private schools na pwede kang ilagay muna sa elem pero pag nagkaroon ng opening for highschool, yung mga secondary LET passers na nasa elem ang pinu-pull out :D

Hi teachers.
I am a BSBA Banking and Finance graduate and have earned 39 units in graduate school and have recently passed my Master in educational Mgt.comprehensive exam. If i want to take the LET, do i still need to enrol myself in an education course to take the required units in teaching? or my MEM subjects be enough? Thank you

Anonymous said...

Yes you need to get the 18 or 21 units of Education course like principle of teaching, method of teaching, foundation of education etc..

hi mentors,

I already asked you if i can take the LET (April 5, 2009 9:10 AM date of last post) and you answerd me "no" cause i miss foundations 1 & 2.
However, i still went to PRC to file & indeed i was able to file!

Hmm..you guys made me scared!

thanks anyway..i have another question & hope to have a nice reply.

My major is TLE (Tech Ed)however I dont know what are the topics/courses covered by TLE, and i was confused when i found this on web: (http://www.prcboardpassers.com/program-of-the-licensure-examination-for-teachers-l-e-t/)

Coverage of Examinations for the Specializations

* Agricultural and Fishery Arts: Functional Application of Knowledge, Breeds of Farm Animals and Fish, Pests and Diseases Affecting Animals and Fish Propagation, Marketing Strategies in the Industry/Entrepreneurship, and Proper Care and Management of Agricultural and Fishery Products.

*Industrial Arts and Related Disciplines: Electricity, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning - RAC, Drafting, Woodworking, Auto-mechanics, Radio Mechanics, Metal Works, Entrepreneurship/Business, and Distributive Arts, and Instructional Methods and Evaluation of Learning.
Home Economics: Home Economics and Livelihood Education, Clothing 1-Selection, Purchase, Care & Construction of Clothes, Food and Man 1-Food Production and Preparation with Nutrition; Home and Family Living, Handicrafts, Entrepreneurship.
Business Technology: Office Management, Information & Communication Technology, Entrepreneurship Principles and Bookkeeping& Accountancy.

It seems like TLE is very broad.
My undergrad is Automotive tech only. If the above coverage is true then i need to review a lot of topics!

any reply would be much appreciated... princeorion

Hindi po ako mentor or deped teacher but from what I know, yung mga nag 18 units ay Values Ed. ang major.

Maybe you can just call up PRC for verification. This is their number for Educ Dept : 7362245 / 7362252

Yes, BUT you need to take at least 18 units of Education. However, there is a POSSIBILITY of requiring the non-educ grads to take more than 18 units for the April 2010 LET. Though, there is no advise from PRC yet.

Hello, I am a BEED student. Sa ngayon eh I'm taking my last 2 subjects dis sem. I will be graduating this March 28, 2010. Can I take the LET exam?? My friends told me that they think that I would not be able to since I am still taking my last 2 subjects and the deadline for registration is in feb. 12,2010. Also I need to secure SO no. and I cant have one if i'm not a graduate, is it true??

Anonymous said...

I went to the PRC in our place. the 18 units is still applicable for the april 2010 LET, but the in-charge listed 4 required subjects (for prof ed) The teaching profession, assessment of learning, principles of teaching and Facilitating learning plus 6 more units of other educ subjects. I still have to go to my old school tomorrow to get my TOR but I feel sad because I'm currently taking the teaching profession subject and NO you can't take the LET while you're still studying or currently taking the subject even for a unit earner like myself who doesn't need SO.

Greetings!

I am a nurse who wants to enter the teaching profession. I already completed the units required and I'm just wondering if it's true that my TOR doesn't need to have an S.O. for my LET application?

I am aware that it is specified in the R.A 4670" The magna carta for public shool taechers" sec.11 states that married couple specially both of whom are public school teachers should be employed in the same locality. It seems that the proper authorities are ignoring my request.i feel so hopeless with my request specially that my request has been rejected 4 times already. Hello po i just need some clarification ang sinusunud po ba ng PRC ay yung Ched memo order no 57. Ito po kasi nakalagay dun ang required subjects ay:

The Teaching Profession
Child and adolescent development
Principles of teaching
Assesment of learning
Educational Technology
Developmental Reading

tapos dapat kasabay niyan Field study 1-6

tapos 6 units of practice teaching after ng mga professional courses na yan.

Ang problem ko this 1st sem 2010 nag enrol po ako and supplemental units lang po ang inooffer ng skul. I have 16 units na naka enroll pero ang isa dun wala sa Ched memo yung subject po na yun ay Curriculum Development.

And papayagan ba ako ng PRC mag take ng LET kung itatake ko lang ng 1 year yung 30 units meaning sa 2nd sem mag prapractice teaching me and at the same time i am taking the remaining professional units i need to complete.

pls help me decide po .

Anonymous said...

ito po yung ched order. http://www.ched.gov.ph/policies/CMO2007/cmo_52_s2007.pdf

I had 5 years teaching experience in High school and 3 years in College and 3 months in Bangkok, Thailand where I handled M1 & M2 ( English ). Do I need to enrolled next sem for the practice teaching? or am I already qualified to take the LET.
Thank you.

according to the the section 15 of Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994, a graduate of bachelor's degree in arts and sciences need at least 10 units of professional education. I am a graduate with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and I am currently taking my MAEd in Guidance and counseling. is the additional 10 units of professional education subjects can be applied to my case? and my maed subjects can be counted or credit as professional education subjects? thank you very much.
