Education Secretary Jesli Lapus called on businessmen to invest in human capital through education during an education forum conducted recently at the Southwestern University, Cebu City.
"The country's educational system has shortcomings; we cannot afford the staggering cost of installing computer labs in all schools that badly need them. We also cannot afford to have a well-stocked library for the students' resource for learning so we need your help to finance education,” Secretary Lapus said.
Press secretary and Presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye in his weekly column, "The View from the Palace," said that with the start of the new school year, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s attention has turned once again to her initiatives in education.
Bunye said, the President has specific plans and programs for the development of the four levels of education -- daycare, grade school, high school and college.
