2021 National Schools Press Conference (Presscon2021) - ONLINE

 DepEd MEMORANDUM  No. c50 


1. The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Curriculum Development (BCD), announces the conduct of the 2021Nationa1 School Press Conference (NSPC from August 11 to 13, 2021) online, dubbed as the National Conference on Campus Journalism in the 2lat Century with the theme, Pahagaqang Pangkampus:  Kaagapay  sa Paghilom  at  Pagbangon  ng  Sambayanan. 

This  is  pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 7079, also known as Gampus Journalism Act of 1991, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) specifically Rule IX of Section I.

2. The Conference aims to

  • a. capacitate learners, school paper advisers and relevant field personnel with understanding of the importance of journalism by expressing it through different journalistic endeavors and approaches
  • b. sustain advocacy on social consciousness and environmental
  • awareness;
  • c. provide a venue for an enriching learning experience for students interested in Journalism as a career or those who intend to use skill sets learned through campus journalism to give them a better edge in their chosen careers;
  • d. promote responsible journalism arid fair and ethical use of social
  • media;
  • e. introduce the new NSPC events arid its alignment with the Special Program in Journalism ; and
  • f. showcase the campus journalistic skills of students across the regions.

3. Conference activities shall include training-workshops on the following:

 


4. The Department adheres to the rule concerning plagiarism and intellectual Property Rights in the conduct of the activity.

5. Each region shall determine their own official participants (both students and school paper advisers) guided by the following pointers:


The School Paper Advisers must—


a. be from public or private elementary or secondary schools;

b. have seven years and above experiences in campus journalism;

c. have a good command of both languages both in English and Filipino (both

spoken and written forms);

d. have been a trainer or facilitator of training/workshop for at least seven years;

e. have never been involved in any case of plagiarism;

f. be able to use Microsoft Office, and online platforms;

g. not be retiring from service in the next two years (for school paper advisers);

h. be willing to spend time to train and serve other school paper advisers and campus journalists; and

have available gadgets/devices and internet connectivity for the whole duration of the activity.


The Students must—


a. be from public or private elementary or secondary schools;

b. have seven years and above experiences in campus journalism

c. have good command of the language both in English and Filipino (both in spoken and written forms);

d. have been consistently winning in the DSPC, RSPC and NSPC;

e. never been involved in any case of plagiarism;

f. be able to use Microsoft Office, and online platforms; and

g. have available gadgets/devices and internet connectivity for the whole duration of the activity.

6. Each region is expected to submit their Official List of Regional Delegates (using the format provided in the Enclosure] duly endorsed by their Regional Director and send it at nspccentral@gmail.com on or before August 4, 2021. All participants are required to register online through http://bit.ly2021NSPCReg following the stated deadline of submission.

7. The link of the online platform per session will be sent through the email of all participants.

8. All regions shall ensure a parental consent for all participating students who may be included in the video recording to be uploaded on DepEd website & social media accounts.
