DepED Ifugao Introduced Today the Policies on Hiring of Preschool Educators

In a radio stations interview, Education supervisor 1 Edel Grace Kimayong said DepEd Order No.4, series of 2007, offers up supplemental guidelines in the selection and deployment of new plantilla positions for preschool teachers.

The applicant should have obtained any of these degrees - BS in preschool education or BEED major in Preschool education or BEED major in teaching early grades or BEED with 21 units in early childhood education, BSE with 21 units in Early Childhood Education and BS Psychology with at least 18 units in preschool education

An applicant must be a Licensure Examination for Teacher (LET) eligible; teaching experience with pre-school shall be given priority and a resident of the municipality/barangay where pre-school courses are arranged.

Kimayong added that fresh plantilla jobs for preschool courses are to be organized. “New preschool classes shall be organized in any of the pursuing municipalities: 4th, 5th, or 6th class municipalities with a huge population of five-year-old kids or municipalities high are day care facilities but without having PTCA-funded preschools.

A preschool course can only be organized with a minimum class size of 25 five-year-old children in the school where there is an accessible classroom. No child/children from current preschool classes shall be brought out to complete the minimum amount class size.

The certified preschool teacher shall handle only two classes daily, one in the morning and one in the afternoon for a duration of three hours per class. In a school where there is only one preschool course, she will teach in a nearby school to accomplish the required six-hour teaching load.
