General Guidelines On the Opening of Classes

DepEd Order No 41 s. 2011

All Concerns,

Pursuant to the constitutional mandate to provide all Filipino learners with fee basic education in public elementary and secondary schools, and to achieve the countries target for Millennium Development Goal on universal primary education and this Departments objective of education for all in 2015, there is an urgent need to minimize, if not to eliminate, financial constraint among parents/guardians during the opening of classes and to implement effective school - classroom management.

Accordingly, the implementing policies on the collection of voluntary school contributions shall be observed.

a. No fees shall be collected from schoolchildren in Kindergarten up to Grade 4 anytime during the school year SY 2011-2012.

b. No fees shall be collected from Grade 5 pupils to 4thy year high school student from June to July 2011. However, starting Aug 2011 until the end of this SY, the contribution shown in the table through this link.

The PTA can collect contribution starting August only after presenting to their members and to the school head a Report on the Utilization of the Previous School Year Collections and the SY 2011-2012 proposed budget with program of activities.

The amount of contribution to the PTA should be agreed upon during the General Assembly pursuant to the DepED ORder No. 54 s 2009 and shall be concurred to by the school head.

The PTA are enjoined to refrain from setting exorbitant amounts for voluntary school contributions. The PTA are encouraged to minimized the amount of contributions for graduation ceremonies and extra curricular activities.

The contribution to the PTA shall be on a per member basis regardless of the number of children that the member has enrolled in the school.

The school publication is not mandatory but strongly encouraged inline with the promotion of campus journalism. Every Elementary pupil shall not pay more than P60 and every highschool student shall not pay P90 per DepED Order No. 19s. 2008.

No teacher, school personnel shall collect fees or contributions nor shall be entrusted with the safekeeping and disbursement of collections made by the PTA pursuant to the Code of Ethics for Prefessional Teachers.

Teachers shall not act directly or indirectly as agent of nor be financially interested in any commercial venture of which they can exercise official influence. Hence teachers and all school personnel are prohibited from selling or requiring the purchase of locally produced workbooks, instructional materials, test booklets school supplies and other items.

Non-compliance of the provision on the collection of voluntary school contributions shall be a ground for cancellation of the PTA's recognition and or filing or appropriate charges as teh case may be.

2011 Digital Teaching Innovation Training for Teachers

The Smart Teaching and Educational Providers (STEP) will conduct the 2011 Digital Teaching Innovation, a 3 day training with hands on application from June 3 to Sept 25, 2011 at the designated computer laboratories of the STEP partners assigned to the schools. The specific schedule or the training are follows:

Date - June | Time - 3 days 8:00Am to 5pm | Division - Marikina Pasig San Juan and Quezon City

Date - July | Time - Same - Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela CIty

Date - August | Time - same | Division - Makati, Mandaluyong, Manila, Taguig, Pateros, Pasay and Paranaque City. In details..


The training aims to:

1. prepare the teacher participants to utilize the instructional technology tools responsibly;

2. help them value curriculum outcomes over technology;

3. educate them on how to use online grade books, which make sharing scores and classroom information with students and then parents much easier.

4. train them on the online education ( to use video conferencing like skype that will allow them to share media and information with student

5. develop digital learning materials which complement multi-sensory learning environments.

The participants to this training are the administrators, elementary and secondary teachers from both public and private schools. The names of teachers who will attend must be submitted by their school principals. They can bring their own laptops.

A registration fee of P800 will be charged each from public school participants and P1200 each from private school participants to cover the cost of venu8e training modules and certificates.

The Private School Health Officer Association will conduct its 3rd Visayas Regional Scientific Seminar and Fellowship with the theme PSHOA Combining Excellence with Blazing Unity! DepEd Student to Attend Olympics in Athens

Lawmaker Seeks to Grant Free College Education to Teacher's Children

DepEd strengthens Preschool teachers’ Competencies

DepEd all set for Palarong Pambansa in Dapitan City

To celebrate the 150th delivery anniversary of National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, his four years in exile and the 115th year of his death, the Department of Education will certainly stage this year’s Palarong Pambansa in Dapitan City.
