Mother Tongue Instruction

The use of Mother Tongue as instruction and mandated by DedEp to apply starting this school year is taking negative and positive reactions from many. As teachers, there is a need for them to have the expertise in delivering the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to their students. Teachers have attended seminars and conferences in preparations for this new program, however, it could be seen that our schools have limited materials to use effective teaching and learning do not only require teachers and program but instructional material in the mother tongue language. Since this program is still a neophyte, let us hope that learning and teaching materials will be provided to our schools and ultimately bring effective results by increasing the level of proficiency and achievements of Filipinos making them better citizen and be globally competitive.
