Some 85,000 grade one students in 271 public elementary faculties are the lucky beneficiaries of milk and biscuits because the country launches the Food for Progress Act Program in Pasig town yesterday, November 9.
Signed last November ten 2009, Food for Progress Act is an agreement signed between the u. s. of America and also thePhilippines that aims to supply fortified biscuit and chocolate milk for varsity kids in areas full of flooding caused by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng last year. The typhoons that came in succession wrecked havoc in Metro Manila and in provinces in Central and Northern Luzon, leaving a combined injury of P1.4 billion in class property and equipment.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) was identified because the main entity accountable for the handling and distribution of all donated commodities. Meanwhile, Republic Flour Mills (RFM) Corporation committed to provide 5 million packs of UHT milk chocolate drink and 5 million packs of biscuits from the 680 metric heaps of non-fat dry milk as partner-processor beneath the project.
