How history teachers can improve nationalism

he history of the Philippines, particularly the chapter on World War II, is being taken out of the archives, dusted off and made alive and more personal to motivate and inspire those who have to teach it.

As told by University of the Philippines Diliman professor Ricardo Jose in his seminars for high school and college history teachers, the war tales are tragic, poignant, awe-inspiring and occasionally hilarious.

The Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) enlisted the UP history professor’s help in conducting a series of seminars to help improve the history teachers’ skills and give them a better appreciation of the subject they are handling through often little-known stories about the war.

Lack of books and detailed historical accounts, no videos and IT Technology are common problems why Filipino children do not know about Philippines History. Our history were tough in broad topics that surely you will not appreciate it.

Region III Teachers Training

It was an accident when i found this blog site. I do not know how long it has been online but as a veteran blogger, I am amazed by the content as well as the graphics of this blog. Actually this blog is about ICT training programs, their curriculum for teachers ICT' s training and pictures.

Based on its Alexa rank this blog is too young on live age. It was managed by a computer instructor and programmer under the name iceman.

The main content is about the topics on their ICT training starting with Introduction and identification of learners level of skills and knowledge. Then followed by brainstorming about ICT terminologies. It goes with word, powerpoint presentation, spreadsheet and internet. To an IT it is traditional. To teachers it is always the basic. They include internet security and ethics. Lastly, designing unit plan on ICT.

Other training which amazed me is that Region III is teaching the mentors about web development using Jomla. (Web Development using JOOMLA, )

I hope they post the results. You know JOOMLA is too technical that even web developer take time to understand. Like myself of course. I noticed in the picture that they include some old guys. I mean old teachers. Well i disagree. Why, old teachers have been left behind with technology and it is hard word for the trainers to force them to accept the logic of 10000110. Younger teacher is easy to teach because they are too aggressive to learn.

Pardon to old mentors. I know you shared some pride about the present cultures of our countrymen in our country today.

For those interested to have idea on teachers curriculum here is the link http://gsicict.blogspot.com/. Enjoy

Baguio City National High School Loakan Annex (BCNHSLA)

With mixed feelings of eagerness and anxiety, the administration, teachers, and students of Baguio City National High School-Loakan Annex (BCNHSLA) is preparing for its autonomy from its mother school, the Baguio City National High School –Main.

BCNHSLA Head Teacher-in-Charge Brenda M. Carino is ensuring that the school will be ready for the turnover which may take place sooner than expected.

By virtue of the Department of Education’s Order No. 71 s. 2003, the authority regarding approval of separation of annexes was delegated to the regional offices from the Office of the Secretary. In the case of Loakan Annex, all the required standards were reviewed and validated by the assigned Inspectorate Team (I-Team), a group created by the Regional Director and co-chaired by the Chief of the Elementary/Secondary Education Division. Two (2) education supervisors also hold member positions in the team. The I-Team conducted ocular inspection, interviewed local stakeholders, and pointed out the urgent needs of the school. Having met all the requirements, LA is indeed ready for separation.
